Is Your Body Getting the Nutrients it Needs for Efficient Detoxification?
The human body requires very specific nutrients to perform its daily routine of detoxification of toxins. One of the most important is an antioxidant called glutathione. The liver uses glutathione to remove toxins from the fat cells where they get transported to the intestines and kidneys. Finally, if the intestines and kidneys are working correctly, they flush the toxins out of the body. Glutathione also detoxifies substances in the intestines before they can be absorbed into your blood stream.
Exposure to toxins often depletes glutathione faster than it can be produced by the body or absorbed from the diet. This results in increased susceptibility to toxin-induced diseases such as cancer.
An important pathway for toxins to exit the body is through a fluid produced in the liver called bile. Vitamins B6, B12, folic acid, choline, betaine and methionine promote the flow of bile and fat to and from the liver. These nutrients also help increase the body’s reserves of glutathione levels.
The efficiency of the body’s detoxification system depends upon several other vitamins, minerals, amino acids and essential fats. Antioxidants A, C, E & B vitamins, magnesium, zinc, sulphur, manganese and copper, as well as, methionine, cysteine, taurine and glutamine are all essential for detoxification.
When the body lacks sufficient nutrients, toxins accumulate in the fat cells and can lead to illness. After performing thousands of blood tests on my patients, I routinely find people deficient in one or more vitamins or minerals. Wouldn’t it make good sense to find out if you are lacking any nutrients vital for detoxification?
DID YOU KNOW? Research studies have shown that more than 60% of individuals that take vitamins, minerals and amino acids have deficiencies in one or more nutrients.
